As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, students across SERC took part in enterprising activities!
Four teams of students competed in NI’s one-day enterprise competition. It was a race against the clock as students were challenged to complete a business brief given to them that very morning.
The theme was “Get Creative in today’s Digital Environment” and students worked in their teams to brainstorm, and develop a marketing plan and financial statements for their chosen idea. The teams produced some fantastic ideas and fingers crossed we will see a team go through to the NI Final! We will keep you posted.

Students from Lisburn and Downpatrick took part in an Entrepreneurship Masterclass in Lisburn where they developed valuable business skills and gained an insight into starting their own business.
They were set a business challenge and had to be creative and entrepreneurial in their response. They were also tasked with fashioning an “Enterprise Tree” to represent the successful components of a business. Some of the construction students took a slightly different approach as you can see from the photo!

The experience of starting a business was shared by local young entrepreneur, Cameron Stewart from ARK. Cameron, based in Holywood, outlined the highs and lows of starting up, how important it is to persist and the rewards it can bring. Top NI motivational speaker and image consultant, Billy Dixon, advised students on how to project themselves more confidently to help them get to where they want to be.
Early Years students were the winners of the Enterprise Tree competition and the Business Plan competition was won by the team from Motor Vehicles.
