HOW DO FLYING MARS BARS AND ELECTRIC SCOOTERS LEAD TO BIG IDEAS FOR SERC STUDENTS?!

How do flying Mars Bars and electric scooters lead to Big Ideas for SERC Students?!

05 October 2011

That’s what students at Ards and Lisburn campuses found out at the recent Big Idea Workshops! It’s all about being creative & innovative and teams came up with some fantastic ideas which could change things for themselves, the College, the community or the world!

The workshop was led by Advantage and here are a few of the ideas students produced in their teams– sorry I don't have space to mention them all!

Eco–Bin (Motor Vehicle, Ards)

A system for householders and business to compact their waste saving money & encouraging recycling.

Mobile Solar Panel (Plumbing, Ards)

Ideal for campers, festival goers, Army ops or even to heat water in a paddling pool – this mobile compact solar panel is user and eco-friendly.

Rent-A-Ramp (Winner, Motor Vehicle, Ards)

A cheap solution for car owners of all ages on a budget – rent a ramp at the College to have your repairs carried out professionally.

The NI Explorer (Travel & Tourism, Lisburn)

An interactive museum and bus service for tourists to give them a unique insight into the best NI has to offer.

Bellisle Recycling (Winner, Joinery, Lisburn)

This business takes redundant scrap wood from joiners and businesses and turns it into woodchips, recycling waste into usable products.

Pamper Day Package (Beauty, Lisburn)

How do you fancy a relaxing morning at the College getting your hair done, a few beauty treatments followed by a tasty lunch while someone else looks after the kids?! The complete pamper package that’s not too hard on your purse.

Check out our blog on the student intranet for more pics, and leave a comment.

More Big Idea events to follow soon Downpatrick & Bangor.
