Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is trying to reverse climate change, animating our latest movies, working on cures for debilitating diseases, and helping business large and small run smoothly.
Few other industries are as diverse as ICT and few other skills are so flexible and universal. It’s the stuff that keeps us at the cutting edge. It’s professional, quirky, creative, young and fast-paced.
The term ICT recognises that technology is now as much about communication as it is about information. ICT experts may work in creative industries, support businesses, engineer solutions or make sure products get to market. It’s broader than it’s ever been.
As recently as September 2009 Employment and Learning Minister, Sir Reg Empey, urged young people about to choose a career to consider the ICT industry.
